Jasprit Bumrah has become one of the top bowlers in world cricket over the last year. He is now widely regarded as a major force across all formats of the game. Bumrah played a vital role in India’s success at the T20 World Cup 2024 and is very challenging to face in Test matches as well.
Smith’s Praise for Bumrah
When Australian cricketer Steve Smith was asked about Bumrah’s standing as a bowler, he spoke highly of him. Just before the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Smith called Bumrah one of the best fast bowlers in all formats.
“The challenge is always there, whether it’s the new ball, an older ball, or a very old ball. He has great skills with all of them. He’s a fantastic bowler, arguably the best fast bowler across the three formats,” Smith said during an interview with Star Sports.
Upcoming Series and Bumrah’s Importance
The five-Test series between India and Australia is set to start in Perth on November 22. India has won the last two series in Australia, and if they want to win again, they will rely heavily on Bumrah’s unique skills.
Bumrah has recently been called the ‘Kohinoor’ of Indian cricket. Many former players are excited to see a bowler getting the recognition in a country that usually focuses on its batsmen.
Smith’s Experience and Goals
At 35 years old, Smith has been opening the batting for Australia in recent series and is expected to continue doing so against India. With 109 Tests under his belt, he is close to reaching the impressive milestone of 10,000 runs, having scored 9,685 runs so far.
Bumrah’s Impressive Stats
Since his Test debut in January 2018, Bumrah has excelled, taking 164 wickets in 37 matches at an average of 20.51.
