Csk First IPL Title Victory 2010

CSK has won the IPL title a total of five times. They have also made it to the finals a record ten times and reached the playoffs in 12 out of 14 seasons, outperforming all other teams. Currently, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the captain of CSK, taking over from MS Dhoni, who stepped down before IPL 2024.

2010: First Title Victory

In 2010, CSK won their first IPL title under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. Dhoni would later lead the Indian national team to an ODI World Cup title the following year. Key players like Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, and Doug Bollinger played essential roles in this success.

CSK finished the group stage with seven wins and seven losses, placing third. Their journey to the finals included a semi-final match against the Deccan Chargers, where Doug Bollinger’s remarkable performance, taking four wickets for just 13 runs, helped CSK secure a 38-run victory.

In the final, CSK faced the Mumbai Indians. Suresh Raina’s impressive 57 runs off 35 balls helped CSK set a total of 168/5, which they defended successfully. CSK won by 22 runs, claiming their first IPL title.

2011: Back-to-Back Titles

The following year, CSK continued their success by winning their second consecutive title in 2011. Key performances from Dhoni, Michael Hussey, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Dwayne Bravo helped CSK secure crucial victories.

CSK finished the league stage in second place with nine wins and five losses. Their journey to the finals began with a win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 1, winning by 43 runs.

CSK faced RCB again in the final, winning comfortably. Murali Vijay’s impressive 95 runs off 52 balls helped CSK achieve a total of 205/5, while RCB managed only 147 runs. CSK won their second IPL title.

Shane Watson scored an impressive 117 runs off 57 balls, helping CSK chase down 179 runs in just 18.3 overs. This marked MS Dhoni’s third time lifting the trophy.

2021: Fourth Title

CSK captured their fourth IPL title in 2021 under MS Dhoni’s leadership, bouncing back from a disappointing previous season.

They finished the group stage in second place and defeated the Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 by four wickets, thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s excellent 70 runs. In the final, CSK outperformed Kolkata Knight Riders, winning by 27 runs and claiming their fourth title.

Gaikwad ended the season as the top run-scorer with 635 runs, while Faf du Plessis followed closely with 597 runs.

Batting first, CSK scored 171 runs, with Devon Conway leading the charge with 72 runs. In reply, the Titans fell short, and CSK won by five wickets, bringing home their fifth title.
