In the IPL 2024 Playoffs race, five teams are competing for two spots. Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have already secured their places. The teams still in the running are Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, SunRisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants. Except for SunRisers Hyderabad, each team has one game left. Net run rates will likely decide the final spots.

Star Sports, the official broadcaster, says SunRisers Hyderabad have an 87.3% chance to qualify. Chennai Super Kings have a 72.7% chance, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have a 39.3% chance. Delhi Capitals have a 0.7% chance, and Lucknow Super Giants have a 0.2% chance.

Chennai Super Kings – 14 points in 13 matches (NRR +0.528)

The Chennai Super Kings, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, have a strong chance to advance. They have 14 points from 13 matches (NRR +0.528). If they win against RCB, they are guaranteed to move forward. Even if they lose, they can still advance if RCB doesn’t surpass their NRR. If LSG wins their last game and also gets 14 points, CSK will likely advance due to their better NRR. They also hope SRH (14 points from 12 games) lose both their remaining matches, making it easier for them.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – 14 points in 12 matches (NRR +0.406)

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) need to win their last two matches against GT and PBKS to secure a playoff spot. They win only one, they’ll still make it. if they lose both, their chances depend on their net run rate (NRR). If SRH lose both games and LSG and RCB win theirs, SRH’s playoff hopes rely on a better NRR. If CSK beat RCB and SRH lose both games, SRH will need a better NRR than LSG and DC to get the last playoff spot.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 12 points from 13 games (NRR +0.387)
