Hardik replaced Rohit after returning to MI from the Gujarat Titans (GT) during the trade window. This decision appears to have backfired as MI has already been eliminated from the IPL 2024 playoffs. Hardik’s performance this season has been disappointing.

Pandya took over from Sharma after moving back to the team from Gujarat Titans. But things haven’t gone well for Mumbai Indians, as they’re already out of the IPL 2024 playoffs. Pandya’s performance this season has been average at best.
He scored 200 runs and took 11 wickets in 13 matches. His bowling improved as the tournament progressed. Despite this, he got selected for the T20 World Cup squad. But reports claim Sharma and the selection committee weren’t keen on his selection.
Reportedly, Pandya was included due to ‘pressure’, though it’s unclear what kind of pressure it was. There are talks that Sharma might retire from T20s after the World Cup. However, it’s unsure if Pandya will secure a spot in the playing XI for all matches.
During a press conference, when asked about Pandya’s inclusion despite his poor form, the chief selector mentioned the lack of similar talent to replace him. India’s group matches in the T20 World Cup will be held in New York and Florida, with a key match against Pakistan on June 9th.
