Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad Battle for Direct Final Spot in IPL 2024 Qualifier 1

Rain played spoilsport in 3 of last 8 IPL matches

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to clash in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1. The winner will secure a direct place in the final, while the loser will play in Qualifier 2 against the winner of the Eliminator match. This week promises exciting cricket, though weather concerns loom as recent games have been affected by rain.

Weather Threats and Reserve Days

Rain has disrupted three matches over the past week, and fans are hopeful the playoff games will proceed smoothly. Fortunately, this season has Reserve Days for all four playoff matches, ensuring that any rain-affected games can be completed the following day.

Rain Rules for Playoff Matches

According to IPL 2024 rules, an additional 120 minutes are allotted to complete rain-delayed matches, similar to the league stage. However, for playoffs, Reserve Days are available to resume incomplete matches from the beginning.

Teams in Playoffs

KKR was the first team to secure a knockout spot this season. SRH secured their place by defeating Punjab Kings by four wickets, finishing second with 17 points, just ahead of Rajasthan Royals. Rain caused the Rajasthan vs. Kolkata match to be abandoned, placing Rajasthan third. Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Chennai Super Kings in their final league match to clinch the fourth spot.

The IPL 2024 final is scheduled for May 26, with Reserve Days ensuring every match has the opportunity to be completed. Fans can look forward to an exciting conclusion to the season.
