Ambati Rayudu Mocks RCB After IPL 2024 Exit
Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu caused a stir on social media by mocking the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) following their exit from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Rayudu shared an Instagram post reminding fans of CSK’s five IPL titles with a caption, “Sometimes a gentle reminder is required”. This post featured a video of CSK players showing the number 5, symbolizing their championships. This act was especially notable because it’s rare for cricketers to engage in such online banter.
Rayudu’s Critique of RCB
Earlier, Rayudu had criticized RCB, emphasizing that mere passion and celebration aren’t enough to secure IPL trophies. He commented, “You don’t get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs. Don’t think you will win the trophy just by beating CSK.” His remarks highlighted the importance of consistency and performance in winning championships. Despite RCB’s effort in eliminating CSK from the tournament, Rayudu seemed to find satisfaction in their eventual downfall.
RCB’s Journey and Skipper’s Reaction
RCB captain Faf du Plessis reflected on their journey, expressing pride in the team’s effort to reach the playoffs after a challenging start, losing 7 out of their first 8 matches. Du Plessis noted that their performance against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the playoffs fell short, particularly due to a lack of sufficient runs. He stated, “With the dew coming, we felt we were short with the bat. Did think we were 20 runs shy of what was a good score. Credit to the boys – they fought really well.” Despite the loss, he praised the team’s resilience and character in making a significant comeback in the season.
