T20I Teams With Lowest Totals

T20I cricket is like a seesaw. One moment a team is winning, the next they might be losing. This quick change is what makes it exciting for fans.

Teams in T20 cricket also have ups and downs. Sometimes they score a lot of runs easily, and other times they struggle to score at all.

This article will look at the 10 worst scores of the top 10 teams in T20 cricket.

10. Afghanistan

In 2014, during a cricket match, Afghanistan scored their lowest score ever against Bangladesh. They only managed to make 72 runs before they were all out. Shakib al Hasan, a player from Bangladesh, did really well and took 3 wickets for just 8 runs. None of the Afghan players scored more than 25 runs.

9. Bangladesh

Bangladesh played their worst cricket match ever in the 2016 T20 World Cup against New Zealand. New Zealand scored 145 runs first. Kane Williamson, their dependable player, scored 42 runs from 32 balls. Bangladesh struggled to respond. Grant Elliott and Ish Sodhi from New Zealand got three wickets each, and Bangladesh could only score 70 runs, losing the match badly.

8. West Indies

In March 2019, West Indies scored their lowest number of runs in a cricket match against England. They only managed to score 45 runs before losing all their players. Meanwhile, the English players scored a total of 182 runs. When West Indies tried to bat, Chris Jordan from England did really well and took 4 of their players out by only giving away 6 runs. As a result, West Indies lost the match by a huge difference of 137 runs.

7. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka played a cricket match against India in February 2016. They didn’t score many runs, only 82. Only two Sri Lankan players got more than 10 runs. India won the match easily by chasing down the small target and had 9 wickets left. Sri Lanka is ranked 7th in T20 cricket matches. They won the T20 World Cup in 2014.

6. South Africa

In February 2020, South Africa played against Australia in a T20 match. It was a bad day for South Africa because they scored their lowest ever points in T20 matches. Australia batted first and scored a huge 196 runs. Then, when South Africa tried to bat, Ashton Agar from Australia bowled really well, taking 5 wickets and allowing South Africa to score only 89 runs before they were all out.

5. Pakistan

In 2012, Pakistan had a really bad time in cricket when they played against Australia. The match happened on September 10th in Dubai. Australia batted first and made 168 runs with David Warner and Shane Watson scoring most of them. Saeed Ajmal, a Pakistani player, did well and got 2 wickets by giving away only 19 runs.

But when Pakistan batted, it was a disaster. They couldn’t handle Mitchell Starc, an Australian bowler, who got 3 wickets for just 11 runs. Pakistan got all out for only 74 runs, losing the match by 94 runs.

4. England

In 2012, England played a cricket match against India in the ICC T20I World Cup. England didn’t do well and only scored 80 runs, their lowest ever in this type of cricket. India played first and scored 170 runs with 4 players out. Rohit Sharma from India did a good job, making 55 runs in 33 balls. Only one England player, Craig Kieswetter, did okay with 35 runs. No one else from England played well. The second-highest scorer for England was Jade Dernbach, but he only got 12 runs and he was the last to bat.

3. New Zealand

In 2014, New Zealand had a tough time during a cricket match against Sri Lanka. They only scored 60 runs before all their players were out. Even though they did a good job preventing Sri Lanka from scoring too much, New Zealand couldn’t score enough to win. Kane Williamson was the main scorer for New Zealand, getting 42 of their 60 runs. Rangana Herath did really well, getting five wickets and only giving away 3 runs in his 3.3 overs.

2. Australia

In 2005, Australia played against their big rivals England in just their second T20I match. England batted first and scored 179 runs. Australia, with famous players like Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, and Ricky Ponting, couldn’t match up and got all out for only 79 runs. So, England won by a huge 100 runs.

1. India

India played a cricket match against Australia in Melbourne on February 1, 2008. They batted first but only scored 74 runs, with Irfan Pathan being the highest scorer with 26 runs. Nathan Bracken from Australia took 3 wickets by giving away only 11 runs. Australia easily chased down the target and won the match with 9 wickets left.

Next year, there will be a T20I World Cup in India, and Indian fans have high hopes that their team will win the trophy.
