Women’s cricket has improved a lot recently, becoming more popular and competitive.

Batters have been working hard to improve their skills, meet new challenges, and set new records. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), players need endurance and perfect technique to score big for their teams.

Let’s look at the top five highest scorers in women’s ODI history.

5. Laura Wolvaardt- 184* vs Sri Lanka 2024

On April 17, Laura Wolvaardt made history by scoring 184 not out from 147 balls against Sri Lanka. This is the highest score by a player whose team lost the game.

Wolvaardt, who opened the batting, hit 23 fours and four sixes, helping South Africa reach a total of 301 runs. Her timing was perfect, and she found the gaps in the field well.

However, Sri Lanka chased down the target in less than 45 overs, with Chamari Athapaththu scoring 195 runs.

4. Deepti Sharma- 188 vs Ireland, 2017

In May 2017, India scored their highest-ever One Day International (ODI) total of 358 runs against Ireland. This was thanks to Deepti Sharma and Punam Raut, who scored 109 runs. Deepti Sharma scored 188 runs from 160 balls, hitting 27 fours and two sixes.

After that, the Irish team was all out for 109 runs, losing the match by 249 runs.

3. Chamari Athapaththu- 195* vs South Africa, 2024

After Wolvaardt scored 184 runs in the first half, Sri Lanka needed to chase a tough target of 302 runs. They needed some big hits from their batters to win.

Luckily, captain Chamari Athapaththu played amazingly, helping Sri Lanka score quickly. She made 195 runs without getting out, hitting 26 fours and five sixes. They reached the target in less than 45 overs.

2. Belinda Clark- 229* vs Demark, 1997

In the 1997 Women’s World Cup, Australia’s captain, Belinda Clark, played amazingly well and helped her team score 412 runs.

Clark scored an unbeaten 229 runs from 155 balls, with support from Karen Rolton, who scored 64, and Lisa Keightley, who scored 60. Denmark was then all-out for 49 runs, losing the game by a huge 363-run margin.

1. Amelia Kerr- 232* vs Ireland, 2018

In June 2018, New Zealand played against Ireland in Dublin. New Zealand batted first, and Amelia Kerr and Amy Satterthwaite scored 113 runs together in less than 14 overs. Satterthwaite got out after scoring 61 runs.

Kerr kept batting strongly and ended up scoring 232 runs not out off 145 balls, hitting 31 fours and two sixes. She also had a 295-run partnership with Leigh Kasperek, who scored 113 runs, helping New Zealand reach a total of 440 runs.

In reply, Ireland were all out for 135 runs, with Kerr taking 5 wickets for just 17 runs.
