India’s Tour to Pakistan for Champions Trophy Latest Update

India’s Possible Tour to Pakistan

The 2025 Champions Trophy is set to be hosted by Pakistan from February 19 to March 9. Pakistan is working hard to ensure the event is successful. While India’s participation in the tournament is not confirmed yet, a prominent cricket figure has suggested there is a 50% chance that India will tour Pakistan.

Expert’s Claim

Rashid Latif, a former Pakistani wicketkeeper, has claimed that there is a 50% chance India will visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. Latif mentioned on a YouTube channel that if Jay Shah is elected unopposed as ICC Chairman, it implies support from the Pakistan Cricket Board. He believes this situation makes it likely that India will tour Pakistan.

Official Confirmation

As of now, there is no official confirmation from India. Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of the BCCI, stated that the Indian team will tour Pakistan only if the Indian government approves. If the government gives the green light, this will be the first time since 2008 that the Indian team will visit Pakistan.

Praise for Jay Shah

Latif also praised Jay Shah’s role as an administrator, noting that his work has been beneficial for cricket, both for the BCCI and the ICC. Since co-hosting the 1996 World Cup, Pakistan has not hosted any major ICC events. While Pakistan was the host for the 2023 Asia Cup, India played its matches in Sri Lanka.
