Samit Dravid, the allrounder, has been chosen for India’s Under-19 team for the first time. He will play in the multi-format series against Australia Under-19 this September and October.
Mohamed Amaan, a middle-order batsman from Uttar Pradesh, will captain the 50-over squad. For the four-day matches, Madhya Pradesh’s Soham Patwardhan will lead the team.
Dravid’s Recent Performances
Samit Dravid, the son of former Indian captain and coach Rahul Dravid, recently played in his first senior men’s T20 tournament, the Maharaja T20 Trophy in Karnataka. He is a member of the Mysuru Warriors team.
In the tournament, Dravid batted in the middle-order, scoring 82 runs at a strike rate of 114 across seven innings. Although he didn’t bowl his medium pace, his selection for the Under-19 team was announced the same day his team was set to play the semi-final.
Earlier this year, the 18-year-old Dravid played a key role in Karnataka’s victory in the Cooch Behar Trophy, a four-day tournament for under-19 players. He scored 362 runs and took 16 wickets in eight matches, including two important wickets in the final against Mumbai.
Upcoming Matches Against Australia Under-19
The India Under-19 team will play three 50-over matches against Australia Under-19 in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26. This will be followed by two four-day games in Chennai, starting on September 30 and October 7.
