Ayush Badoni Breaks Record for Most Sixes in an Innings

Ayush Badoni Breaks Record

Ayush Badoni, the captain of South Delhi Superstarz, made history with a remarkable 165-run innings from just 55 balls in the Delhi Premier League against North Delhi Strikers. His powerful performance, which included a record-breaking 19 sixes, led his team to a massive 112-run victory.

The Key to Success: Timing

Badoni attributes his incredible performance to his focus on timing the ball rather than hitting it hard. He said, “I was just looking to time the ball well. I never imagined I would end up hitting 19 sixes in one innings.

Breaking Records

By hitting 19 sixes, Badoni broke the previous record for the most sixes in an innings, which was jointly held by Sahil Chauhan from Estonia and the West Indian legend Chris Gayle, both with 18 sixes. During the match, Badoni and opener Priyansh Arya also set up a 286-run partnership for the second wicket.

Staying Focused on the League

Despite his record-breaking performance, Badoni remains focused on winning the Delhi Premier League. “I’m not thinking about the IPL mega auction right now. My main focus is on leading my team to victory in the league,” he said.

IPL Experience Makes a Difference

Playing in the IPL with Lucknow Super Giants has helped Badoni improve as a batsman. He mentioned that facing world-class bowlers in the IPL has made it easier to play in the Delhi Premier League.

Praise from Jonty Rhodes

Jonty Rhodes, the assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants, compared Badoni to the hard-hitting former South African player, Herschelle Gibbs. Badoni expressed his gratitude for Rhodes’ support and looks forward to working with him again.

Leading from the Front

As captain, Badoni, along with Priyansh Arya, has scored a total of 1,091 runs in the first season of the Delhi Premier League. He acknowledged that their strong partnerships have taken pressure off the rest of the batting lineup, but he also emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent in the team.
