Achieving a double century in T20 cricket seems almost impossible. With just 120 balls per team to set or chase a target, scoring 200 runs individually is extremely challenging. Yet, it has been done before, with the first such milestone reached by Sagar Kulkarni in 2008.
The latest player to accomplish this rare feat is Rahkeem Cornwall of the West Indies, who scored 200 runs in the Atlanta Open T20 League in 2022. Interestingly, the other three players who have achieved a double century in this format are all of Indian origin.

Prince Alapatt Hits 200 in Thrissur’s League
Prince Alapatt is the latest player to join the list of T20 double centurions. He achieved this remarkable milestone in April 2024 during a ‘B’ Division League match in Thrissur, between Octopals Cricket Club and Udbhav Sports Club.
In an incredible display, Prince scored 200 runs off just 73 balls, smashing 23 fours and 15 sixes. His side won the match by a massive 122 runs. Prince is well-known in Kerala’s local T20 circles and works as a cricket trainer at Thrissur’s Devamatha Public School.
Rahkeem Cornwall, a giant in the cricketing world, stunned everyone with his performance during the 2022 Atlanta Open, where he played for Atlanta Fire. Cornwall, known internationally for his batting prowess, scored an unbeaten 205 runs off just 77 balls, including 17 fours and 22 sixes. Despite the tournament being unofficial, Cornwall’s powerful hitting demonstrated his stamina and determination.
Cornwall’s efforts helped Atlanta Fire set a huge target of 327 runs, and they won the match easily as their opponents, Square Drive, could only manage 154/8 in their 20 overs, giving Cornwall’s team a 172-run victory.
Sagar Kulkarni’s Record-Setting Knock
Sagar Kulkarni was the first to achieve a double century in T20 cricket, back in 2008. Representing Marina Club, Kulkarni hammered 219 runs in 56 balls, helping his team reach a massive total of 368/3 in 20 overs.
Subodh Bharti – First Indian to Score a T20 Double Century
In 2021, Delhi’s Subodh Bharti became the first Indian cricketer to score a T20 double century, remaining unbeaten on 205 runs off 79 balls. He played for Delhi XI in an inter-club match, leading his side to post a total of 256/1 before bowling out their opponents for 199 runs in the 18th over.
The Future of T20 Double Centuries
Even though legendary players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, and AB de Villiers have yet to achieve a double century in T20 cricket, the evolution of the game makes it likely that this incredible milestone will soon be reached in official matches.
