Changes to India’s Squad for Zimbabwe T20I Series
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made three changes to the squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana have been included in the squad for the first two matches. These players replace Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who are currently in Barbados and unable to travel due to a hurricane.
Players Stuck in Barbados
The Indian team, including the World Cup-winning players, has been stranded in Barbados because of Hurricane Beryl. The hurricane, which intensified into a dangerous Category 4 storm, has shut down the island’s airport and businesses, preventing the team from leaving as scheduled. Originally, the team was supposed to depart on Monday at 11 AM local time (8:30 PM IST), but the hurricane has delayed their departure.
Harshit Rana and Other Replacements
Harshit Rana, along with Sai Sudharsan and Jitesh Sharma, will first travel back to India with the rest of the squad before heading to Harare for the T20I series. This adjustment was necessary due to the unexpected delay caused by the hurricane. The BCCI is ensuring that the team is fully prepared despite these travel disruptions.
India’s Revised Squad for the First Two T20Is
The updated squad for the first two T20I matches against Zimbabwe includes:
- Shubman Gill (Captain)
- Ruturaj Gaikwad
- Abhishek Sharma
- Rinku Singh
- Dhruv Jurel (WK)
- Riyan Parag
- Washington Sundar
- Ravi Bishnoi
- Avesh Khan
- Khaleel Ahmed
- Mukesh Kumar
- Tushar Deshpande
- Sai Sudharsan
- Jitesh Sharma (WK)
- Harshit Rana
Despite the challenges, the BCCI and the players are committed to performing well in the upcoming series. The inclusion of new players aims to strengthen the squad and maintain India’s competitive edge.
