Kanpur Rain Wipes Out Day Two of India vs Bangladesh Test

Cricket fans were left disappointed as kanpur rain wipes out day two of india vs bangladesh test match. The much-anticipated day of play never got underway, with persistent showers making it impossible for the players to even take the field. As the rain poured down, fans could only wait and hope for a break in the weather that never came. This rain interruption has added an unexpected twist to the match, with both teams now adjusting their strategies to make the most of the remaining days.

Kanpur Rain Wipes Out Day Two Completely

The entire field at Green Park Stadium was covered throughout the second day as a start-and-stop drizzle prevented any play. Despite the ground staff using three super soppers to try and dry the ground, there was little they could do to improve the situation.

Morning Weather Delays Play

Steady rain continued until around 10 am, and although the drizzle became lighter afterward, it wasn’t enough to resume play. The heavier rain from the previous evening and overnight had already made the conditions unplayable. With no sign of a start, the players returned to their hotel around 10:20 am, and eventually, the umpires officially called off the day’s play at 2 pm.

Day One Struggles with Weather

The first day was only slightly better, with a combination of rain and bad light limiting play to just 33 overs, during which Bangladesh scored 107 for 3. India, who won the toss after a one-hour delay, decided to bowl first—an unusual move for them at home. The last time they chose to bowl first in a home Test match was nine years ago, against South Africa in Bengaluru in 2015, which was also affected by rain.

Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam managed to survive the initial spells from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. However, Akash Deep soon took the wickets of both openers, giving India the advantage. Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto then steadied the innings with a 51-run partnership until R Ashwin trapped Shanto lbw. Unfortunately, before either side could gain any significant advantage, the weather took over, leading to another frustrating interruption.
