Phil Salt Named T20 Captain as Jos Buttler Misses Series Due to Injury

Phil Salt to Captain England

England has announced changes to their squads for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia. Regular captain Jos Buttler will not play in the T20 series due to a calf injury that also caused him to miss the Hundred. In his absence, Phil Salt will take over as captain. Salt, who previously led the Manchester Originals in Buttler’s absence, will now lead England for the three T20Is against Australia.

Squad Adjustments

Jamie Overton will replace Buttler in the squad, and Will Jacks is expected to open the batting with Salt. Although Buttler will remain the ODI captain, his participation will depend on his recovery, so Jordan Cox has been added as a backup.

Series Schedule and Locations

The T20 series will test the new England squad, especially after Australia’s strong performance against Scotland. The T20 matches will be held in Southampton, Cardiff, and Manchester on September 11, 13, and 15, respectively. The ODI matches are scheduled for September 19, 21, 24, 27, and 29 in Nottingham, Leeds, Chester-le-Street, Lord’s, and Bristol.
