RCB Coach Hints at Major Changes for IPL 2025 Auction

RCB could be set for big bowling overhaul in IPL 2025

Need for Skillful Bowlers

RCB coach Andy Flower suggests that the team needs bowlers with more skill rather than just raw pace, especially for matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium. After RCB’s exit from the IPL Eliminator, Flower emphasized that successful bowling at Chinnaswamy requires precise planning and execution. Bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal, Recce Topley, and Karn Sharma struggled with high economy rates this season, prompting the need for a different approach.

Focus on Power-Hitters

On the batting front, Flower stressed the importance of recruiting players with strong power-hitting capabilities. He pointed out that the power game has become crucial in T20 cricket and that RCB needs batsmen who can maintain a high tempo throughout the innings. This strategy aims to enhance RCB’s ability to compete more effectively in future matches.

Support for ‘Impact Player’ Rule

Flower expressed his support for the ‘Impact Player’ rule, which allows an extra Indian player to participate in the game. He believes this rule has positively impacted Indian cricket by encouraging a more aggressive batting approach. Flower is confident that even if the rule is removed, players will continue to play with the same level of aggression, having proven their capabilities this season.

Backing for Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik

Despite Glenn Maxwell’s poor performance this season, Flower remains optimistic about the Australian all-rounder’s potential to recover and perform well in the upcoming World Cup. Additionally, Flower hinted that veteran player Dinesh Karthik might have played his last IPL game. He praised Karthik’s contributions both on and off the field and supported his interest in coaching and commentary, predicting success in his future endeavors.
