RCB Star Responds to Critics of Team’s IPL 2024 Performance

RCB's Shreyanka Patil with Virat Kohli

Shreyanka Patil, a star player for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru women’s team, responded fiercely to critics and trolls who doubted the team’s ability to make the top 4 after losing 7 out of their first 8 matches. On social media, Patil confidently addressed those who questioned if Bengaluru could qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. After RCB’s victory over Chennai Super Kings secured their spot, Patil praised the team, highlighting that sometimes even a 1% chance is enough. She wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “There is a 1% chance… and sometimes that is good enough. To everyone who laughed at us, it’s not too late! Join the RCB journey; it’s going to be an exciting ride!”

After RCB’s win against CSK, wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik gave an inspiring speech in the dressing room.

“People will always remember certain journeys. We had to win six out of eight games to come back, and people will remember this team,” Karthik said.

Title Showdown Determining the Ultimate Champion

“Every year in this tournament, when teams reach the seven-game mark, there will be one or two that have won only a couple of games. They will look at us and say, ‘RCB did it. That was special. We will try to do what RCB did.’ That’s why we play cricket and sports—to inspire others to believe they can achieve something special. It’s hard, not easy, and any team will find it tough. What we have achieved today is very special,” Karthik added.

Now, the Bengaluru team will face Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. The winner will then play the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. The winner of Qualifier 2 will face the winner of Qualifier 1 in the final match for the title.
