Delhi Capitals’ captain, Rishabh Pant, believes his suspension for one match hurt their chances of getting into the IPL playoffs. He couldn’t play in a crucial game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru because he got suspended for a slow-over rate violation. Pant thinks if he played, their chances of winning would’ve been better.
Unfortunately, Delhi Capitals not only lost that game but also by a big margin of 47 runs. This loss affected their overall performance in the tournament, especially their net run rate. Now, they have to wait and see if they qualify for the playoffs depending on the results of other teams’ matches.
Pant mentioned that while winning that game wasn’t guaranteed with him playing, their chances would’ve been higher. Despite a rough start, Delhi Capitals fought hard towards the end of the season to try and secure a playoff spot. However, injuries to key players like Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, and David Warner made things tougher for them.
KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, pointed out that losing wickets early in the game has been a recurring issue for them throughout the season. This prevented them from utilizing their big-hitters like Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran effectively. He believes this is a major reason why their team is in their current position.
In summary, both teams faced challenges throughout the season, including injuries and performance issues. While some factors were within their control, others, like injuries, were unavoidable. Now, they must wait and see how the remaining matches play out to determine their fate in the tournament.
