Shafali Verma Makes History in Women’s Cricket

Shafali Verma, a 20-year-old Indian cricketer, has broken the record for the fastest double century in women’s Test cricket. She achieved this feat in just 194 balls during a match against South Africa in Chennai, scoring 205 runs off 197 balls.

A Masterclass in Aggressive Batting

Shafali Verma’s innings was a remarkable display of aggressive batting, featuring 23 fours and eight sixes. She reached her 200-run milestone in style, smashing consecutive sixes off South African off-spinner Delmi Tucker. Her impressive knock came to an end when she was run out following a mix-up with her partner Jemimah Rodrigues.

India Dominates South Africa in One-Off Test

The one-off Test match between India and South Africa was a dominant display by the Indian team, thanks to Shafali’s record-breaking innings and a strong opening partnership with Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana scored an impressive 149 runs off 161 balls, hitting 27 boundaries and one six. Together, they formed a formidable opening partnership, scoring 292 runs in just 52 overs and setting a new record for the highest opening partnership in women’s Test cricket. India declared their innings at 404/8, with South Africa still trailing by 155 runs at the end of day two.
