Bangladesh has picked its team for the last two matches of the T20I series against Zimbabwe. They’ve brought back Shakib Al Hasan, the talented all-rounder, who recently returned to Test cricket after almost a year. The team is led by Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Here’s the squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Litton Kumar Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shakib Al Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah, Jaker Ali Anik, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin.
Shakib had some eye problems after the last ICC ODI World Cup in India. He took some time off to recover properly. That’s why he missed some series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
He skipped the first three T20Is against Zimbabwe because he wanted to play in the Dhaka Premier League first. It was his way of getting ready for international cricket again.
Mustafizur Rahman, who was resting after the Indian Premier League, is back in the squad. Soumya Sarkar also returns after healing from a knee injury he got during a match against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh made some other changes too. Shoriful Islam is taking a break to spend time with his family. Both he and the team felt he needed this time off. Afif Hossain and Parvez Hossain didn’t make it to the squad this time.
Abdur Razzak, the selector, explained, “We have given rest to Shoriful. Both team management and Shoriful felt he needed to spend time with his family. We want him to come back after recharging himself as he’s been playing cricket in one stretch for a long time.”
So, Bangladesh is all set for the upcoming matches against Zimbabwe, hoping for some great performances from the returning players.
