Shreyas Iyer Trolled After Batting in Sunglasses During Duleep Trophy 2024

India’s star cricketer, Shreyas Iyer, had a mixed day in the Duleep Trophy 2024 match. He was dismissed for a duck after just seven balls. However, what caught the internet’s attention was Iyer walking out to bat wearing sunglasses. Despite his early dismissal, he later took a wicket with his very first ball, marking his first wicket in first-class cricket in six years.

India C Faces Setback as Gaikwad Retires Hurt

In a tough moment for India C, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had to retire hurt after facing only two balls in their Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India B. This game took place at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Gaikwad hit a four on the first ball, but twisted his ankle on the second delivery, forcing him to leave the field. India B had won the toss and chose to bowl first, putting India C under early pressure.

Solid Partnership Between Sudharsan and Patidar

Despite the early loss of their captain, India C managed to recover thanks to a solid partnership between Sai Sudharsan and Rajat Patidar. Sudharsan scored 43 runs from 75 balls, while Patidar contributed 40 runs from 67 balls. Together, they put up a 92-run partnership for the second wicket, facing 140 deliveries.

Gaikwad’s Injury Update

Reports suggest that Gaikwad twisted his ankle while running after facing a ball from pacer Mukesh Kumar. Although he retired hurt, the injury is not considered serious, and he is expected to bat in the second innings. Gaikwad has been facing challenges in his red-ball cricket career, especially after missing India’s Test series against South Africa last December due to a finger injury.
