South Africa overcame their semifinal jinx with an impressive nine-wicket victory over Afghanistan to reach their first-ever T20 World Cup final. The South African bowlers, led by Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje, delivered a devastating performance, bundling Afghanistan out for just 56 runs in 11.5 overs. The Proteas will face either India or England in the final.

Dominant Bowling Display Crushes Afghanistan’s Hopes

Afghanistan, after a strong tournament run, faltered in the semifinal. South African pacers Jansen (3/16), Rabada (2/14), and Nortje (2/7) tore through Afghanistan’s top order, reducing them to 28 for five inside the Powerplay. Afghanistan’s batting lineup couldn’t recover and posted their lowest total in a T20 International, ending at 56 all out.

South African Batters Seal Comfortable Victory

Despite losing Quinton de Kock early, South Africa’s batters comfortably chased the modest target. Reeza Hendricks (29 not out) and captain Aiden Markram (23 not out) guided the team to 60 for one in 8.5 overs, ensuring a smooth victory and securing their spot in the final.

Although Afghanistan fell short in the semifinal, their performance throughout the tournament earned them respect. The Afghan team, led by skipper Rashid Khan, showcased their potential and resilience, making it to the semifinals.
