Top 5 batting performances for LSG

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have only played a couple of seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but in these three years, they have shown some amazing batting skills to the league’s fans. Even though they have a strong batting team, Lucknow hasn’t won the title yet.

In the 2024 IPL, LSG will try to play aggressive cricket under their captain KL Rahul and win the trophy for the first time. Rahul wants his batsmen to perform well in the upcoming matches and consistently score good runs for the team. Before their first match in the 24th edition of the league, let’s talk about LSG’s five best batting performances.

Here are Lucknow Super Giant’s 5 best batting performances in IPL:

5. Marcus Stoinis’ 72 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2023

Marcus Stonis Batting.

In 2023, LSG and Punjab Kings (PBKS) played cricket at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium. Punjab’s captain, Shikhar Dhawan, chose to bowl first after winning the coin toss. However, this decision didn’t work out well because the visiting team scored 257 runs, which is the second-highest score in the league’s history.

LSG had great batting from Kyle Mayers, Ayush Badoni, and Nicholas Pooran. But it was Marcus Stoinis, an all-rounder from Australia, who made 72 runs from 40 deliveries, helping Lucknow reach the big target. Punjab tried to chase the score but only managed to score 201 runs before getting all out. Marcus Stoinis was awarded the Player of the Match for his performance.

4. Nicholas Pooran’s 62 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2023

Nicholas Pooran

In 2023, there was a really exciting cricket match between LSG and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. People who love watching IPL games will always remember this match because of Nicholas Pooran’s amazing performance for LSG. LSG had to chase a big score of 213 runs. But things looked tough for them when they lost four players and had only scored 99 runs in 10.4 overs.

Then Nicholas Pooran came to bat, and things started to change. But soon, even more pressure came on LSG when another important player, KL Rahul, got out. Pooran, from the West Indies, played incredibly well under pressure and quickly scored fifty runs in just 15 balls. He hit 11 boundaries, which included seven sixes and four fours, and made a total of 62 runs in only 19 balls.

Because of Pooran’s brilliant batting, LSG came very close to winning the match. When Pooran got out, LSG needed 24 runs to win from 18 balls. But luckily, the tailenders Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi stayed calm and helped LSG win the match by one wicket. Pooran’s outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
