5 Best Catches Of The T20 World Cup 2024

The T20 World Cup T20 World Cup 2024 ended in Barbados with India beating South Africa by seven runs in the final on Saturday, June 29. This win was India’s first ICC title since 2013 and their first T20 World Cup victory since 2007.

During the tournament, there were many excellent fielding displays. Aiden Markram topped with eight catches, while Glenn Maxwell, Tristan Stubbs, and Harry Brook each made seven catches. Some of these catches were incredibly memorable and will be talked about for years.

Here are the top 5 catches of the 2024 T20 World Cup:

1. Suryakumar Yadav vs South Africa

In the final over of the 2024 T20 World Cup final, Suryakumar Yadav made a crucial catch that helped India win. David Miller hit a high ball towards the boundary, seemingly for six, but Suryakumar caught it just before the rope. Despite nearly going over, he threw the ball back in play, ensuring it was a legal catch. This moment thrilled Indian fans and was key to their victory in the tournament.

2. Aiden Markram vs England

Another important catch joins the list. In a match against South Africa, England needed 14 runs from the final over. Anrich Nortje caused Harry Brook to mishit the ball. Aiden Markram ran from the field, watched the ball closely, and caught it with a diving stretch.

Earlier in the tournament, Markram also made a great catch against Bangladesh, helping his team win. Although he didn’t score many runs, Markram’s fielding was exceptional as South Africa’s captain.

3. Steven Taylor vs Pakistan

The United States did very well in the 2024 T20 World Cup. They beat Pakistan in a big game during the group stage.

Saurabh Netravalkar played great throughout the tournament. He got Mohammad Rizwan out with a tricky catch. The ball was going to drop in front of Steven Taylor, who was at a wide first slip. It looked like he couldn’t reach it.

But Taylor didn’t give up. He stretched out as far as he could to his right and caught the ball just before it hit the ground, using only one hand. After that catch, the USA won an exciting Super Over and made a great memory.

4. Axar Patel vs Australia

Axar Patel had an amazing tournament for India, doing well with both batting and bowling, and his fielding was also impressive. In India’s last Super 8 match against Australia, Mitchell Marsh hit a powerful shot towards deep square leg off Kuldeep Yadav.

Standing a few yards inside the boundary, Axar saw the ball going over his head towards the crowd. But he jumped up determinedly and caught the ball with his non-dominant right hand before falling to the ground.

This great fielding play helped India secure a strong win over Australia, bringing them close to elimination.

5. Sybrand Engelbrecht vs Bangladesh

Sybrand Engelbrecht is famous for his amazing fielding skills. In his last tournament playing for the Netherlands, the experienced cricketer showed that he’s still very agile and quick, even though he’s older.

When Litton Das hit a sweep shot that went high off Aryan Dutt’s bowling, Engelbrecht had to run a long way to reach the ball near the deep square leg area. He ran fast across the field and then dived outstretched to catch the ball with both hands, which was a very important moment for the Dutch team.

Despite Engelbrecht’s great effort, the Tigers won the game by 25 runs. Engelbrecht also scored the most runs for his team during their batting turn, making 33 runs quickly.
