The IPL 2023 is now in an exciting phase where teams are competing closely for the title. There have been surprising performances and exciting moments in the matches. Players like Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh have shown remarkable skills.
A new rule called Impact Player has been introduced this season, which was confusing at first but has turned out to be a great move. Teams have used this rule well, making the most of having an extra player on their team. Even though these players might not always play in the main team, their importance as Impact Players has been recognized.
Here’s the list of top five Impact Players performances from the IPL 2023:
5. Prabhsimran Singh
Punjab Kings made a smart choice by picking this young, lively batsman. He’s one of the most promising players in this IPL season. In his 14 times at bat, he scored 358 runs quickly.
He joined the team in 2019. In the 2023 tournament, he got promoted to start the game as an opener. Prabhsimran Singh did really well and impressed everyone with his great performances. Besides scoring 42 runs off 24 balls against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, he also hit his first 100 runs in IPL against Delhi Capitals.
In his 103-run innings against Delhi, he looked completely in control. He hit the ball to the boundary 10 times and over it 6 times. He started slowly, scoring 27 runs from the first 30 balls, then scored 76 runs from the next 35 balls.
4. Dhruv Jurel
Every year, the Indian Premier League introduces new cricket players who soon become regulars in India’s national team. This year is no different, with players like Dhruv Jurel standing out. He has played really well for the Rajasthan Royals team, filling in a crucial role.
Even though he only played 11 times, Dhruv scored 152 runs quickly and effectively. He especially shone when the team was struggling in a match against Punjab Kings, where he scored 32 runs off just 15 balls, helping the team win.
Even though his stats might not seem impressive, Dhruv handled a tough role in cricket’s shortest format really well. He hit the ball perfectly and knew when to score runs. Based on his recent performances, it’s clear that Dhruv is becoming a great finisher in cricket.
3. Amit Mishra
When we talk about the IPL, we often focus on young players. But Amit Mishra showed that older players still have a place in the game. MS Dhoni also supports this idea.
In the 2022 season, Mishra didn’t get picked by any team. But this time, Lucknow Super Giants bought him, and he’s been playing really well. In a recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he took two wickets for 23 runs, helping his team win.
This season, he’s taken seven wickets, making him the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL history, surpassing Lasith Malinga. He has 173 wickets in 161 games, with an average of 23.84 and an economy rate of over seven.
2. Venkatesh Iyer
Rinku Singh is doing really well for Kolkata Knight Riders, but another player, Venkatesh Iyer, is also important for the team. Iyer has been playing really well this season. He often comes in at crucial moments and makes a big impact.
He’s really good at hitting the ball without taking too many risks, and he showed that by scoring 83 runs from just 40 balls in one match. This helped Kolkata Knight Riders win against Gujrat Titans, even though they were struggling at first. Rinku Singh finished the game with five big hits in the last over.
When Shreyas Iyer wasn’t playing, Venkatesh stepped up and played an important role in the team’s batting. He even won the Player of the Match award once and ended up being the top scorer for his team, scoring 404 runs in 14 innings.
1. Tushar Deshpande
You can’t ignore Tushar Deshpande. He made a big impact in the tournament by replacing Ambati Rayudu and making history. At first, he didn’t do so well and let in some runs. But he got better and ended up being the top wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings.
He started off badly for CSK but improved a lot. Now he’s their best bowler. He’s 28 years old and has worked hard to get here. He couldn’t have done it without the support of CSK’s captain, MS Dhoni, and the coaching staff.
Thanks to Dhoni’s guidance, Tushar has taken 20 wickets and is in sixth place for the Purple Cap. He’s expected to get even more wickets in the playoffs.
