Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spent a lot of money, about 12.20 crore rupees, in an auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). They bought five bowlers and one player who can both bat and bowl. They did this because their bowling team hasn’t been doing well.
Shivam Mavi was the most expensive player they bought, for 6.40 crore rupees. They also got David Willey and Ashton Agar for 2 crore and 1 crore rupees respectively.
Now, with these new players, Lucknow Super Giants have a good bowling team. They already had Mark Wood, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mohsin Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi. So, now their bowling team looks strong.
We have to wait and see how the team, led by KL Rahul, will do in the upcoming matches. But, the tournament is still a few weeks away. So, for now, let’s talk about the top five bowling performances of Lucknow Super Giants.
Here are LSG’s top 5 greatest bowling performances:

Naveen-ul-Haq, a fast bowler from Afghanistan, bowled four overs in the game and took the important wickets of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, and Tilak Varma. Naveen’s good bowling helped restrict Mumbai Indians to 182 runs, but Lucknow’s batters couldn’t handle Akash Madhwal’s disciplined bowling and were all out for just 101 runs in 16.3 overs
4. Yash Thakur’s 4/37 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2023
In a cricket match in 2023, the team called LSG scored 257 runs first. This was the second-highest score in the league. Then, the other team, PBKS, tried to chase this big score. But they struggled. But then, another player named Yash Thakur from the opposing team took a crucial wicket. He got Raza out. After that, PBKS kept losing more players. Thakur did really well, taking more wickets. Finally, in the last over of the match, he got the last wicket, helping his team win. Thakur bowled 37 runs in 3.5 overs and got four wickets.
3. Avesh Khan’s 4/24 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2022
Avesh Khan played his first game for LSG in 2022. He bowled really well against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. Lucknow batted first and scored 169 runs. SRH started their chase but lost two key players, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma, early in the game because of Avesh Khan’s bowling. When SRH reached a score of 95, they had already lost four wickets. But Nicholas Pooran played a great innings and almost brought his team close to winning. When SRH needed 27 runs from 16 balls, Avesh Khan took the wickets of Pooran and Abdul Samad, making it difficult for SRH to win. Pooran scored 34 runs, and Samad got out without scoring any. In the end, SRH couldn’t reach the target and lost by 12 runs. Avesh Khan was named the Player of the Match for his excellent bowling performance, where he took 4 wickets for 24 runs in four overs.
2. Mohsin Khan’s 4/16 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2022
In 2022, a new player named Mohsin Khan joined the LSG team in the IPL. He played his first game against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium and did really well. His team won by six runs. Mohsin was fantastic, taking four wickets for just 16 runs, which was his best performance in the IPL.
He started by getting rid of Warner early in the game. Then he got the important wicket of Rishabh Pant, who was playing well and could have hurt Lucknow’s chances. After that, he dismissed Rovman Powell and Shardul Thakur. Powell was playing really good, so getting him out was crucial for Lucknow.
With Mohsin’s great bowling, Lucknow managed to keep Delhi’s score low, and they won the match by six runs. Mohsin was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
