5 Bowling Performances Of T20 World Cup 2024

The T20 World Cup 2024 had a good balance between batting and bowling. In New York, Guyana, and Trinidad, the pitches favored bowlers, while other grounds offered a fair contest. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Arshdeep Singh took the most wickets, with 17 each, showcasing the bowlers’ impact in the tournament, which highlighted the excitement of T20 cricket.

1. Jasprit Bumrah-3/7 vs Afghanistan

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout player of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Afghanistan in Barbados. India scored 181 for eight in 20 overs, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s impressive half-century.

Chasing a tough target of 182, Afghanistan struggled. Bumrah dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz, caught by Rishabh Pant, followed by Hazratullah Zazai and Najibullah Zadran. Afghanistan had no answer to Bumrah’s bowling.

Bumrah’s final figures were three wickets for seven runs in four overs, including one maiden over.

2. Anrich Nortje- 4/7 vs Sri Lanka

South Africa played their first T20 World Cup 2024 match against Sri Lanka in New York, where the conditions were good for bowlers.

A South African fast bowler performed exceptionally well, troubling the Sri Lankan batsmen with his precise bowling. He first dismissed Kamindu Mendis, followed by Kusal Mendis.

He then took the wickets of Charith Asalanka and Angelo Mathews, ending with impressive figures of 4-7 from four overs. Sri Lanka was bowled out for a low score of 77, and South Africa won the game by six wickets. Nortje was named Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

3. Alzarri Joseph- 4/19 vs New Zealand

Alzarri Joseph did very well, taking 4 wickets for 19 runs against New Zealand in Trinidad. This performance knocked New Zealand out of the T20 World Cup in the group stage.

New Zealand was chasing 150 runs, but Joseph’s bowling was deadly. He took four wickets, making it hard for New Zealand to catch up.

His wickets included Finn Allen, James Neesham, Glenn Phillips, and Tim Southee. Joseph took wickets consistently, stopping New Zealand from advancing to the next round.

4. Rashid Khan- 4/17 vs New Zealand

Afghanistan batted first and scored 159 runs, losing six wickets. Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a great attacking innings, making 80 runs.

Fazalhaq Farooqi dismissed both New Zealand openers early. Rashid Khan then troubled the Kiwis with his spin, taking the wicket of Kane Williamson and clean-bowling Mark Chapman.

Michael Bracewell was out leg before wicket to Khan on the first ball he faced, and New Zealand lost six wickets in just 43 balls. Lockie Ferguson was caught and bowled by the Afghan captain, and New Zealand was all out for just 75 runs.

Rashid Khan finished with impressive figures of 4-17, leading his team to their first-ever T20I win over New Zealand.

5. Arshdeep Singh- 4/9 vs USA

Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was one of the top wicket-takers in the T20 World Cup 2024, getting 17 wickets. His best performance was in New York against the USA, where he took four wickets.

Shyan Jahangir was out on the first ball of the match, leg before wicket, to Singh. Andries Gous was also out in the first over by Singh, leaving the USA at three runs for two wickets in the first over.

Nitish Kumar and Harmeet Singh were his other two victims, and Singh ended with impressive figures of 4 wickets for 9 runs in his four overs. The left-handed bowler was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
