Highest Run Scorers in Women's Cricket Across all Formats

Just like men’s international cricket, women’s cricket also has a long history. The first Test match in women’s cricket was played in December 1934 between Australia Women and England Women.

First women’s One Day International (ODI) took place in June 1973, also between Australia and England. The first women’s Twenty20 International (T20I) was played in August 2004, between England and New Zealand. Since then, women’s cricket has seen 141 Test matches, 1184 ODIs, and 880 T20Is being played.

There have been 11 editions of the ODI World Cup for women. Australia Women have won the most titles, with 6 wins, followed by England with 4 wins. New Zealand Women have won 1 title. In the T20I World Cup for women, there have been 7 editions so far, with Australia winning 5 times, and England and West Indies winning once each.

Many women cricketers have scored a lot of runs in their international careers.

Meg Lanning, an Australian cricket player, ranks fifth in women’s cricket for scoring the most runs in all formats. In Test matches, she has scored 185 runs in 4 matches, averaging 53.13 with one fifty. In ODIs, she has scored 3925 runs in 85 innings at an average of 53.76. Lanning has scored 14 centuries and 15 half-centuries in ODIs. In T20I cricket, she has scored 2914 runs in 110 matches, averaging 35.97. She has hit 2 centuries and 13 half-centuries in T20Is.

4. Stafanie Taylor- 7832

Stafanie Taylor is ranked fourth on the list. She’s from the West Indies and has scored 7818 runs in women’s cricket. Although she’s 30 years old, she hasn’t played any Test matches yet. As an all-rounder, she’s scored 4754 runs in 126 One Day Internationals (ODIs), batting in 123 innings with an average of 44.01.

In her ODI career, she has hit 5 centuries and 36 half-centuries. In 110 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), she’s scored 3078 runs in 108 innings with an average of 35.37. She has also hit 21 half-centuries in T20Is.

3. Suzie Bates- 7849

Suzie Bates is third on the list. She has scored 7849 runs in women’s cricket. Bates hasn’t played any Test matches for New Zealand yet. She’s 33 years old and has played 125 ODIs, scoring 4548 runs in 119 innings with an average of 42.50.

In ODIs, she has made 10 centuries and 27 half-centuries. Bates has also played 122 T20Is, scoring 3301 runs in 119 innings with an average of 30. She has hit 1 century and 21 fifties in T20Is.

2. Charlotte Edwards- 10,273

Charlotte Edwards, a cricketer from England, ranks second in this list with a total of 10,273 runs in all formats of women’s cricket. She used to be the captain of the England women’s team and scored 1,676 runs in 23 Test matches with an average of 44.10. She achieved 4 centuries in Tests.

In 191 One Day Internationals (ODIs), she scored 5,992 runs in 180 innings with an average of 38.16. Edwards also hit 9 centuries and 46 half-centuries in ODIs. 1. Mithali Raj- 10,337

Mithali Raj, an Indian cricketer, has scored the most runs in women’s cricket history with 10,337 runs across all three formats. She recently became the leading run-scorer in ODIs, surpassing Charlotte Edwards, after scoring an unbeaten 75 runs against England in her last match. In her career, Mithali has played 11 Test matches and scored 669 runs at an average of 44.60, including one century and four half-centuries.

In ODIs, Mithali has scored 7,304 runs in 217 matches at an average of 51.80, with 7 centuries and 58 fifties. She has also played 89 T20I matches, accumulating 2,364 runs at an average of 37.52, including 17 half-centuries.
