Top 5 Lowest Score in T20 International Cricket History

5 Lowest Score in T20 International Cricket History

T20 cricket is really surprising and exciting to watch. It became super popular and changed the game a lot. Even how people play in other cricket formats changed because of it. In T20 matches, teams and players have made history, sometimes in good ways and sometimes in bad.

Fans have seen teams score a lot of runs really quickly, but also sometimes teams barely score at all. Now, even in longer cricket games like ODIs and tests, no score is safe.

Some teams play really aggressively and score a lot of runs, sometimes more than 250 in just 20 overs. Afghanistan’s 278/3 score in a T20 match is the highest ever. But did you know that one of the top teams has the lowest score ever in a T20 match?

So, let’s talk about the lowest scores by the best cricket teams.

5. Jharkhand vs Tripura – 30 runs

Tripura played against Jharkhand in a cricket match on October 20, 2009, in Dhanbad. Tripura got out for only 30 runs in 11.1 overs. That’s a really low score! They were ranked 5th on the list of lowest T20 international scores. Even though Tripura batted first, they couldn’t score much. None of their players scored more than 10 runs, and they only hit one boundary throughout the innings. Jharkhand quickly chased down the target in just 3.2 overs without losing any wickets. They won the match easily with plenty of balls to spare.

4. Turkey vs Luxembourg – 28 runs

Turkey scored only 28 runs in 11.3 overs when they played against Luxembourg in the Continental Cup on August 29, 2019, in Ilfov County. This made it one of the lowest scores ever recorded in cricket. All the players on the Turkish team scored less than 10 runs each, making their batting performance look like a phone number.

Even though Hasan Helva, one of Turkey’s players, only scored seven runs, the extras given by Luxembourg (like wides and leg-byes) equaled Turkey’s highest individual score. Additionally, Ankush Nanda from Luxembourg took five wickets for just six runs, which is called a “fifer,” making it a great achievement for the bowling team.

3. Lesotho vs Uganda – 26 runs

Turkey played a cricket match against Uganda in Kigali on October 19, 2021. They didn’t do well and scored very few points, which was one of their worst scores ever. In another match in 2021, Lesotho played against Uganda in the T20 World Cup qualifier. Lesotho struggled and only managed to get 26 points in 12.4 overs, with a slow run rate.

Dinesh Nakrani from Uganda performed excellently in the game. He got six players out and only allowed seven points. Samir Patel, the captain of Lesotho, was the only one who scored well for his team, getting 10 points. Uganda easily won the match, getting 3.4 points and winning by 10 players.

2. Turkey vs Czech Republic – 21 runs

Turkey played a cricket match against the Czech Republic on August 30, 2019, in Ilfov County. The Czech Republic team decided to bat first after winning the coin toss in a Continental Cup game. They scored a huge total of 278 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. This was the highest score ever made in a T20 match. Sudesh Wickramasekara, a star player from the Czech team, scored a century in just 35 balls.

Turkey struggled to score runs. Only one of their players, Mehmet Sert, managed to reach double figures by scoring 12 runs. Unfortunately, Turkey’s total score was very low, reaching only 21 runs for the loss of all their wickets in 8.3 overs. Their run rate was only 2.53 runs per over. This resulted in Turkey having the lowest score ever recorded in a T20 international match. They suffered a huge defeat, losing by 257 runs, which was very embarrassing for them.

1. Sydney Thunders vs Adelaide Strikers -15 runs

In a cricket match in Sydney on December 16, 2022, the Sydney Thunders team got the lowest score ever in a T20 game. They only scored 15 runs while playing against the Adelaide Strikers in the Australia T20 Big Bash League 2022–23. The Sydney team needed to score 140 runs to win, but they were all out in just 5.5 overs, with a slow run rate of 2.72. The Adelaide bowlers, Henry Thorton and Wes Agar, caused most of the damage, taking 5 and 4 wickets respectively. Additionally, 5 Sydney players didn’t score any runs, and the whole Sydney innings only had 1 boundary hit.
