SRH a franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) hailing from Hyderabad, Telangana, is owned by Kalanithi Maran of the Sun TV Network. Established in 2012, it emerged after the IPL terminated the Deccan Chargers based in Hyderabad. Since its inception, the team has been a consistent participant in the IPL, reaching the playoffs in 2013, 2016, and 2018.
In 2016, under the leadership of David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched the IPL title, adding a significant achievement to their record. Additionally, they reached the finals of the Champions League T20 twice. However, like any other team in the league, Sunrisers Hyderabad experienced both highs and lows.
We’ll talk about the times when the SRH team didn’t do so well. Even though they’re a strong team, they still have times when things don’t go as planned. We’ll focus on the times when they scored the fewest points in IPL matches and other important things about that.
5. 96 Against Mumbai Indians (2019)
Sunrisers Hyderabad had their worst score ever in the IPL against Mumbai Indians in 2019. They only scored in the tens, which is the lowest ever for them. Despite this, the game set some big records. Mumbai batted first and only managed to score 136 runs in their 20 overs, mainly because of Kieron Pollard’s strong performance towards the end. Then, Alzarri Joseph from Sunrisers Hyderabad took six wickets for just 12 runs in 3.4 overs, which is the best bowling performance in IPL history. Sunrisers Hyderabad got all out for just 96 runs in 17.4 overs.
4. 113 against Mumbai Indians (2015)
In 2015, when Sunrisers Hyderabad played against Mumbai Indians on their home ground, they scored their second-lowest total in IPL history, which was just 113 runs. During the first half of the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost five of their players when they had scored only 51 runs. This happened because Mumbai Indians’ bowlers, Malinga and McClenaghan, were really good at taking wickets. Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to reach a total of 113 runs by the end of the game, but they lost their last wicket on the very last ball.
3. 114 against Kings XI Punjab (2020)
The Sunrisers played against Punjab Kings. Sunrisers decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Punjab Kings only scored 126 runs in their turn. Sunrisers tried to chase this score but could only make 114 runs before all their players got out. So, they lost the match by 12 runs.
2. 115/8 against Kolkata Knight Riders (2021)
In 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad played a match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunrisers Hyderabad tried to score runs but found it hard. Kolkata Knight Riders’ spinners kept taking wickets, and Sunrisers Hyderabad only managed to score 115 runs for 8 wickets in Dubai.
1. 116 Against Delhi Capitals (2019)
Because of Colin Munro and captain Shreyas Iyer scoring well, Delhi Capitals got a decent score of 155/7 in their first innings. The SRH middle-order batsmen collapsed badly, losing 7 wickets for just 15 runs against Delhi Capitals. This caused them to lose the game by 39 runs, even though Bairstow and Warner started well with a partnership of 72 runs for the Sunrisers.
