In 2022, the IPL got bigger with ten teams instead of eight. Two new teams joined to compete with the original eight. One of the new teams was the Lucknow Super Giants. Their team owner, Sanjeev Goenka, made headlines by choosing KL Rahul, the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, as the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants.

Gautam Gambhir, who had won the IPL championship twice before, was chosen as the coach. Lucknow Super Giants had a good first season, reaching the playoffs of the tournament. But even though they did well overall, there were some matches where they didn’t perform as expected. 5. 162/8 Against Rajasthan Royals – 2022

In 2022, there was a big cricket match between LSG and Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium. It was a really exciting game. Rajasthan Royals managed to stop LSG from scoring too many runs, holding them at 162/8. Then, when it was their turn to bat, they needed to chase 166 runs, which was tough. In the end, a player named Kuldeep Sen, who wasn’t well-known before, faced off against Marcus Stoinis from Rajasthan Royals. Kuldeep managed to keep things under control and only let 14 runs be scored in the last over.

4. 158/6 Against Gujarat Titans – 2022

LSG played a cricket match against Gujrat Titans. LSG batted first and scored 158/6 runs because of good bowling by Mohammed Shami. Gujrat Titans had a tough start but managed to win by 5 wickets, even though Shubman Gill scored 0. It was an exciting match that went down to the last over.

3. 154/8 Against Rajasthan Royals – 2022

In May 2022, at Brabourne Stadium, Lucknow played against Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan decided to bat first after winning the toss. They scored 178 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their turn to bat. When Lucknow started batting, they lost their first three players for just 29 runs in 5.3 overs. Lucknow couldn’t bounce back from this setback. Deepak Hooda tried hard and scored 59 runs from 39 balls, but Lucknow could only manage to score 154 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their innings. In the end, they lost the match by 24 runs.

2. 153/8 Against Punjab Kings – 2022

In April 2022, at the DY Patil Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) played against Punjab Kings. Punjab chose to bowl first after winning the coin toss. Deepak Hooda scored 34 runs from 28 balls, and Quinton de Kock scored 46 runs from 37 balls for LSG. After using all their chances to bat, LSG reached a total of 153 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Punjab tried to chase this score but could only manage 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, losing the game by 20 runs to Lucknow Super Giants.

1. 82 Against Gujarat Titans – 2022

Gujarat Titans played against Lucknow. Lucknow’s team scored the lowest points in the IPL game. They only scored less than 100 runs. This happened during the 57th game of the 2022 season at DY Patil Stadium. Gujarat batted first and scored 144 runs. But Lucknow didn’t do well when they batted. They lost three players after scoring only 33 runs. Then, Lucknow couldn’t improve. All their players got out, and they only scored 82 runs in 13.5 overs.
