Top 5 ODI World Cup Players With the Most Ducks

Cricket has lots of numbers and facts that show how good or bad players are. One interesting fact is how many times a player gets out without scoring in the ICC ODI World Cup. This is called a “duck.”

Here, we’ll talk about the top 5 players who got the most ducks in the ICC ODI World Cup

5. Keith Arthurton – 4 Ducks

The fifth spot is claimed by another West Indian, Keith Arthurton, who also faced four ducks during his ICC ODI World Cup career. Arthurton played 13 innings between 1992 and 1999, accumulating 241 runs. Known for his graceful stroke play, Arthurton’s outings were unfortunately punctuated by these four ducks.

4. Darren Bravo – 4 Ducks

Darren Bravo from the West Indies shares the third spot with McCallan. He played in the World Cup from 2011 to 2019, batting 11 times and making 207 runs. Even though he’s really good at cricket and can win games with his skills, he got out without scoring four times. Sometimes, his inconsistency made it hard for the West Indies team, but they kept him in the team because he could score big runs.

3. Kyle McCallan – 4 Ducks

Kyle McCallan, who played for Ireland, comes third on this list. He didn’t play many matches in the ICC ODI World Cup, only 8 innings during the 2007 tournament. He only scored 33 runs and got out without scoring (called ducks) four times. McCallan was mainly a bowler, so his batting wasn’t as strong.

2. Ijaz Ahmed – 5 Ducks

Ijaz Ahmed, a powerful Pakistani cricket player, ties for the most times getting zero runs with Astle, both getting five ducks. He played in the World Cup from 1987 to 1999, batting 26 times and scoring 516 runs. Even though he sometimes hit big shots, he often started poorly by trying to hit too hard too soon. Even with the times he got zero, people still respect him in Pakistan’s cricket history.

1. Nathan Astle – 5 Ducks

At the top of the list is Nathan Astle from New Zealand. He was famous for his aggressive way of batting. Astle played cricket from 1996 to 2003. In that time, he played 22 matches in the ICC ODI World Cup and scored 403 runs. Sadly, he got out without scoring (got ducks) five times. Even though he often got out early because of his attacking style, he was still very important for New Zealand’s team.
