He has been a part of teams like Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore again.
In the IPL, he has scored 4,516 runs and has made 20 half-centuries. His highest score is 97 not out. He has also captained the Kolkata Knight Riders team and later joined his former team, Royal Challengers Bangalore, as a finisher.
Dinesh Karthik is currently 38 years and 288 days old, making him one of the oldest players in the IPL 2024.
4. Mohammad Nabi – 39 Years, 74 Days
Mohammad Nabi, a cricket player from Afghanistan, did really well in short cricket matches around the world. Because of this, he got to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. Now, he’s going to play for the Mumbai Indians soon.
Even though he’s from another country, Nabi doesn’t get to play many matches. But when he does, he shows how good he is. His batting speed is really high, over 130. And he’s taken 13 wickets in the 17 IPL matches he’s played. At 39 years and 74 days old, he’s one of the oldest players in the 2024 IPL.
3. Wriddhiman Saha – 39 Years, 143 Days
Wridhiman Saha is a cricket player in the IPL. He’s not always recognized, but he’s really good. He usually bats near the start of the game and isn’t afraid to take risks. He’s played for a few different teams. He’s not just a good batter, he’s also good at keeping wickets. That means he’s responsible for catching the ball when the other team is batting. He’s played for Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, and Gujarat Titans. He’s scored a lot of runs and even got a century once. 2. Faf du Plessis – 39 Years, 246 Days
Faf du Plessis is a very good cricket player known for his strong batting and excellent fielding. He has played in the IPL three times for different teams: Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants, and now Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In the IPL, Faf has scored more than 4,000 runs with an average score of over 36. When he played for Chennai Super Kings, he played a big role in helping them win the IPL titles. Now, he’s been leading the RCB team for the past two years. At 39 years and 246 days old, he’ll be the second oldest player in the IPL 2024.
1. MS Dhoni – 42 Years, 252 Days
MS Dhoni, the leader of the Chennai team and one of only two captains with five IPL trophies, has been with the Chennai Super Kings from the beginning of the IPL. He’s shown that age doesn’t matter much, as he’s going into his 17th season. His connection with the fans and their support keep him going.
When Chennai couldn’t play for a while, Dhoni played for the Rising Pune Supergiants. In his IPL career, he has scored 5,082 runs in 218 innings with an average of over 38. At 42 years and 252 days old, he’ll be the oldest player in the 2024 IPL.
