Top 5 Records That Could Be Broken During the T20 World Cup 2024

Records That Could Be Broken During the T20 World Cup 2024

The big cricket tournament, the T20 World Cup 2024, is starting soon in the West Indies and the USA. Twenty teams are getting ready to compete in four groups. They all want to win the top prize. This tournament often sets new records.

Here are five records that might be broken this time.

5. Fielder’s Most Catches

Fielding can help teams win games, and some really good players are close to making big achievements. AB de Villiers has caught the most balls as a fielder in T20 World Cup history, with 23 catches.

But David Warner isn’t far behind, with 21 catches. If he makes a few more great catches, he could break that record. Also, keep an eye on Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell. They each have 16 catches and could also make a big impact.

4. Most Fours

Virat Kohli is very close to breaking Mahela Jayawardena’s record in T20 World Cup history. Jayawardena hit 111 fours, but Kohli is only eight away from surpassing him. Kohli already holds the record for scoring the most runs in the tournament. He’s aiming for another top spot. But he’s not alone in this race. Rohit Sharma has 91 fours, and David Warner has 86. They’re all trying hard to get the record. Every boundary they hit will make a big difference, and we can expect them to give it their all to win.

3. The Fastest 100

Chris Gayle, also known as the Universe Boss, has the record for the fastest centuries in T20 World Cup history. He scored them in just 47 and 50 balls. But records can always be beaten!

This year, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton from Namibia surprised everyone by scoring a century in just 33 balls. This shows that anything can happen in cricket.

Now, with more teams and powerful hitters playing, there’s a chance for someone else to break the record for the fastest century.

2. Triple Crown of Australia

The Australian team is about to do something very special. They’ve already won the ICC World Test Championship and the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023. Now, they have a chance to win all three major ICC trophies at once.

Pat Cummins leads the team. Australia is also the current champion in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. If they win the T20 World Cup, they’ll be the first team ever to accomplish this amazing feat.

1. Maximum Number of Runs in Single Edition

This year, there are more teams playing in the tournament, so players have more chances to score runs. The highest number of runs scored by a player so far is 319 by Virat Kohli in 2014. But with the possibility of playing up to nine matches, someone could beat this record.

We might see a new great batsman come into the spotlight. Since there are more games, players have more chances to score a lot of runs. We might even see someone break the record for the most runs scored in one tournament.

As the T20 World Cup 2024 starts, fans are in for an exciting time. There’s a good chance we’ll see some amazing performances and maybe even some new records set.
