The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has become very popular in Bangladesh, attracting many fans and international cricketers. This T20 league has helped improve Bangladesh’s national cricket team. Local players get a chance to learn from international players during the month-long tournament.
The BPL started in 2012, around the same time as other T20 leagues. It began with six teams, but now there are seven teams. Over the years, eight teams have played in the league, but only five have won the BPL title. Two teams have been especially dominant.
Here are the teams with the most titles in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history:
5. Fortune Barishal – 1 Title:
Fortune Barishal won their first Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title in 2024. The team, led by Tamim Iqbal, beat the defending champions, Comilla Victorians, in the final match. Barishal won the toss and chose to field first, holding Comilla to 154/6 in their innings. Barishal then chased down the target in 19 overs, winning the match by six wickets.
Rajshahi Royals are one of the four teams that have won the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). They won their only title in the 2019/20 season by beating Khulna Tigers in the final by 21 runs. In 2016, they reached the final but lost to Dhaka Dynamites.
3. Rangpur Riders – 1 Title
Rangpur Riders have won the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title just once. They won it in 2017 by beating Dhaka Dynamites (now called Durdanto Dhaka) in the final held in Mirpur. Chris Gayle, an opener for Rangpur Riders, scored 146 runs in that final, leading his team to their first and only BPL title.
The Dhaka team has changed names several times in the Bangladesh Premier League. It started as the Dhaka Gladiators and won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. Later, as the Dhaka Dynamites, they won their third BPL title in 2016. They also came second in 2017 and 2018.
1. Comilla Victorians – 4 Titles
The Comilla Victorians started playing in 2015 and won their first title in that same year. They have won a total of four titles, the most by any team in the tournament’s history. They also won titles in 2018, 2022, and 2023.
