5. India wins in Sydney by 43 runs: 1992

India and Pakistan didn’t play against each other in the first four World Cup tournaments. Their first match happened in Sydney, Australia. India batted first, with Sachin Tendulkar scoring 54 runs in his first-ever World Cup match. Pakistan’s Mushtaq Ahmed took three wickets, but India managed to score 216 runs. When Pakistan batted, India’s bowlers worked together to get them out for 173 runs. Kapil Dev, Manoj Prabhakar, and Javagal Srinath each got two wickets. Sachin Tendulkar and Venkatapathy Raju also helped. Despite Aamer Sohail and Javed Miandad’s efforts for Pakistan, they couldn’t win, especially after Miandad’s argument with Kiran More. 4. India Win in Bengaluru by 39 Runs: 1996

In the 1996 World Cup quarter-final, India and Pakistan played against each other for the first time in a knockout game. Wasim Akram couldn’t play because he was injured, which was a big deal. Navjot Sidhu scored 93 runs off 115 balls for India, giving them a good start. But it was Ajay Jadeja’s powerful hitting at the end that helped India reach 287/8 in 50 overs.

Pakistan started strong, reaching 84/0 in ten overs, mainly thanks to Saeed Anwar and Sohail. However, the match changed when Venkatesh Prasad got Sohail out after he had taunted him. This became a famous moment in the World Cup. Even though Saleem Malik and Miandad tried to resist, Prasad and Anil Kumble bowled exceptionally well, especially on their home ground, helping India win and making it a sad end to Miandad’s World Cup career.

3. India Win in Manchester by 47 Runs: 1999

In the World Cup match, India played against Pakistan during the Kargil War. It was a very emotional game. India scored 227 runs, with good performances from Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Mohammad Azharuddin.

Pakistan started well in their chase, but once their key player Saeed Anwar got out, their chances went down. India’s bowlers, especially Prasad and Srinath, did very well, and Pakistan lost all their wickets at 180 runs, well before the end of the match.
