Virat Kohli Targets Sachin Tendulkar's ODI Record vs Sri Lanka

The Indian cricket team will play their first ODI Vs Sri Lanka series of 2024 , starting on August 2. Key players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will return to 50-over cricket after their last match in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final, where India lost to Australia on November 19, 2024.

In the previous World Cup, Kohli was the leading run-scorer and won the Player of the Tournament award. He also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI hundreds, becoming the first cricketer to achieve 50 centuries in ODI cricket.

Kohli is now just 152 runs away from reaching 14,000 runs in ODI vs Sri Lanka , which would make him the third batter in international cricket to do so, after Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.

The ODI vs Sri Lanka series includes three matches: the first on August 2, the second on August 4, and the final on August 7.

India’s ODI squad for the series: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill (Vice-Captain), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Akshar Patel, Khalil Ahmed, Harshit Rana.
