Yash Dayal, a fast bowler from India, became a hero for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the IPL 2024 playoffs. They beat the Chennai Super Kings to secure their spot. Faf du Plessis, the RCB captain, praised Dayal for his bowling and even dedicated his own award to him. However, Dayal faced criticism when he first joined RCB last year.
He said, “When I joined RCB, people criticized me and questioned my place in the team. But I focused on proving myself rather than proving others wrong.”
RCB always supported Dayal, considering him an important player. According to him, his success is a result of their trust and support.
During the match, there was a last-minute change in plans, and Dayal ended up bowling the final over. He admitted feeling nervous, especially remembering a tough moment against KKR last year when he was hit for five sixes.
“After that incident, I was nervous,” Dayal said. “But I reminded myself of my past successes and focused on bowling well. I didn’t let the pressure get to me.”
Originally, he was supposed to bowl the second last over, but a discussion between Dinesh Karthik and Faf du Plessis led to a change in plans, with Lockie Ferguson bowling the 19th over instead.
Dayal was okay with the change and just wanted to focus on delivering his best performance.
