FC Barcelona midfield star, Frenkie de Jong, has been out due to injury for almost five months. Initially, he was expected to recover in about six weeks, but his return has been delayed much longer, causing concern among fans. The team’s lack of midfield options has only increased the tension.
Surgery Recommended, But De Jong Declines
Doctors suggested surgery to help De Jong recover fully and regain full fitness. However, the midfielder has rejected this option, as there’s no certainty the surgery would completely fix his injury.

De Jong Loses Trust in Barça’s Medical Staff
Journalist Miguel Rico recently revealed on Tot Costa that De Jong no longer trusts Barcelona’s medical team. According to the report, the 27-year-old believes the club’s doctors cleared him to play before he was fully healed. This was also mentioned earlier by Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman.
Due to this mistrust, De Jong has refused any medical advice from the club regarding surgeries, injections, or other treatments. He has decided not to take any action until he feels completely healthy.
Serious Concerns for Barcelona
If these claims are true, it presents a troubling situation for the club. De Jong’s relationship with Barcelona’s management has had its ups and downs, and this lack of trust in the medical department adds to the ongoing issues.
Currently, De Jong is still experiencing pain in his ankle and has ruled out surgery. He won’t return to the field until he feels fully fit, leaving his comeback date uncertain.
