Rathour Joins Rajasthan Royals as Batting Coach

Vikram Rathour has been appointed as the batting coach for Rajasthan Royals. This decision comes after Rahul Dravid took on the role of head coach, marking a significant change for the team. Dravid previously coached the Indian men’s team, leading them to a T20 World Cup victory.

A Strong Partnership

Rathour and Dravid have worked together before in the Indian setup, and they are now reuniting to guide Rajasthan Royals in the coming seasons. Although Rathour’s international playing career was brief, he has played an important role in developing young Indian batters.

Dravid expressed his excitement about Rathour joining the team. He believes Rathour’s experience and understanding of Indian cricket will be beneficial for the Royals. “Having worked closely with Vikram for many years, I know he has the skills and calm nature needed for the role,” Dravid said. “Together, we’ve achieved great success, and I’m thrilled to work with him again. His talent for developing young players will be crucial as we aim to strengthen our team.

Goals for the Future

Dravid and Rathour share similar goals for Rajasthan Royals, reminiscent of their time with the Indian team. India had not won a T20 World Cup since 2007 and had struggled in ICC tournaments for years. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have only one IPL title, won in 2008. The team has not performed to its full potential, but there has been improvement since Sanju Samson became captain. In 2022, they came close to winning their second title, finishing as runners-up.

Rathour shared Dravid’s enthusiasm about their goals for the Royals. “I’m excited to be part of the Royals family again. Working with Rahul and a talented group of young cricketers is a great opportunity. I look forward to helping the team develop top-class players who can lead us to championships,” Rathour said.
