Delhi Capitals Coach Says Rules Must Be Followed About Rishabh Pant’s Ban

After losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League 2024. Delhi Capitals (DC) assistant coach Pravin Amre said the team missed wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, especially in batting. RCB won their fifth match in a row, beating DC by 47 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This win brought RCB to fifth place in the standings. Giving them a chance to reach the playoffs despite a tough start with seven losses in their first eight games.

Amre confirmed that Pant will return for the next match against Lucknow Super Giants. And his batting will strengthen the team. Pant is the top run-scorer this year, but due to a rule. He missed the last match, affecting DC’s batting lineup. Amre also commented on the surprising high scores in IPL matches, noting that the IPL committee might review it.

In the match against RCB, DC chose to bowl first. Rajat Patidar (52 off 32 balls), Will Jacks (41 off 29 balls), Cameron Green (32* off 24 balls) . And Virat Kohli (27) helped RCB score 187/9 in 20 overs. Rasikh Salam (2/23) and Khaleel Ahmed (2/31) were DC’s best bowlers.

During DC’s chase of 188 runs, they were struggling at 30/4. A partnership between Shai Hope (29 off 23 balls) and Axar Patel brought DC back into the game. Axar scored 57 off 39 balls, his second half-century of the season. But RCB’s bowlers controlled the game and bowled out DC for 140 runs in 19.1 overs. Yash Dayal (3/20) and Lockie Ferguson (2/23) were top bowlers for RCB.

Cameron Green was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-around performance, scoring 32*. Taking 1/19 in four overs, and running out Tristan Stubbs.

RCB’s fifth straight win moved them to fifth place in the standings. They now have 12 points and can reach 14 with a win against CSK in their final league game, keeping their playoff hopes alive if other results go their way.
