Ever since Hardik Pandya’s became the captain of the Mumbai Indians instead of Rohit Sharma, things got worse for the team. They kept losing games in the IPL 2024 season. People didn’t like Pandya’s leadership decision, and when the team started losing, he faced criticism. His performance on the field wasn’t consistent, and fans even booed him. Not many supported him openly except for Virat Kohli, who asked the crowd not to boo Pandya in one match. There’s a new video where Kohli can be seen telling the crowd that Pandya is an Indian player.
Hardik hasn’t been doing great this season. In 13 games, he scored 200 runs and took 11 wickets. He started bowling better towards the end of the tournament. Despite this, he got picked for the T20 World Cup team. A report said that neither Rohit nor the selection committee wanted him in the team. However, he was chosen due to some kind of pressure. It’s unclear if this pressure was because he’s India’s top fast bowling allrounder or from somewhere else. The report also mentioned that during the selection meeting in Ahmedabad, Rohit Sharma, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and some other selectors were against selecting Pandya. The report, from Dainik Jagran, suggested that Rohit might retire from T20 cricket after the World Cup.
