Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Rinku Singh recently shared a touching Instagram post about his Uttar Pradesh teammate, Yash Dayal, who now plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Rinku and Yash have a history in the IPL, with Rinku famously hitting Yash for five sixes in a single over when Yash was with Gujarat Titans. This moment significantly affected Yash’s confidence, and he was released by Gujarat Titans before being picked up by RCB for the 2024 season.
In a crucial match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Yash defended 17 runs in the last over and dismissed the legendary MS Dhoni, helping RCB secure a spot in the playoffs. This performance marked a significant comeback for Yash, and Rinku acknowledged it with a heartfelt Instagram story captioned, “God’s plan baby Yash Dayal.”
KKR shared Rinku’s post on their social media, adding their own supportive message: “God’s plan. Sahi bole, Rinku bhaiyya. Big UP for the UP boys.”
Reflecting on their past encounter, Rinku’s five sixes against Yash were notable for the precise hitting on full-toss deliveries. Despite the pressure, Rinku managed to hit a slower ball for a six with two balls remaining and then sealed the match with another six on the final ball.
Against CSK, Yash showed remarkable composure. Despite being hit for a six on the first ball of the last over, he quickly rebounded by dismissing Dhoni and allowing just one run in the following five balls, leading to RCB’s victory and joyous celebrations at the stadium.
Rinku’s supportive message and KKR’s repost highlight the sportsmanship and camaraderie in cricket, showing how players support each other through ups and downs.
