T20I cricket has changed the game, making it more exciting and fast-paced for both players and fans. Since it started officially in 2005, it has become very popular and is now the favorite format for many cricket lovers. Initially played less often, T20Is are now a regular part of the cricket schedule, especially because of the World Cup tournaments held every two years. With 103 teams playing T20I cricket worldwide, the competition is very tough. However, as of February 2024, only four teams have won more than 100 matches. In this article,

5. South Africa

South Africa has proven to be a very strong team in this format. Even though they haven’t won any titles, they often perform better than some world champions. The Proteas played their first T20I match in October 2005 against New Zealand. Since then, they have played 173 matches, winning 96 and losing 73. They also had one tie and three matches with no result.

4. Australia

Australia played their first T20I match in 2005. Although they haven’t been as successful in T20I cricket as in other formats, they won their first T20 World Cup in 2021 in the UAE. Out of 188 matches, they have won 100, lost 81, tied 3, and had 4 with no result.

3. New Zealand

In 2005, New Zealand, together with Australia, took part in the first-ever official T20I match. Although they haven’t won any major ICC titles in this format, the Black Caps have a remarkable overall performance. They reached the milestone of becoming the third team to win over 100 T20Is and play more than 200 matches. New Zealand has participated in 211 games, winning 107 and losing 88. Moreover, ten matches ended in ties, while six had no result.

2. Pakistan

Pakistan is considered one of the top teams in T20 cricket. They were the first team to win over 100 matches in T20I cricket. They won the T20 World Cup in 2009 and were runners-up in 2007 and 2022. Out of 231 matches played, they have won 136, lost 86, tied three, and had six matches with no result.

1. India

In 2007, Team India made history by winning the first T20 World Cup, proving they are one of the best in this format. They have won 140 out of 219 matches, showing their strength in the shorter game. India wants to stay on top and keep their excellent win/loss ratio of 2.058, which is the best among all test-playing countries. Despite 68 losses, India remains a powerful team in the cricket world.
