The brilliance of IPL players has been evident in the announced Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Four IPL teams have contributed players, some of whom are even reserve players as India’s T20 captain, Rinku Singh, hasn’t found a place in the squad.
There were expectations from the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul… Interestingly, the most players were picked from Mumbai in the IPL. Among them are Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Indian players picked from IPL teams are as follows:
The BCCI has announced India’s team for the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli is back in the squad. Rohit Sharma will lead 15 players, with Yuzvendra Chahal and Shivam Dube being the highlights. Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant are the wicketkeepers, and Hardik Pandya is the vice-captain. Axar Patel joins to strengthen the spin department. Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj will support the pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah.
Four reserve players – Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed – will also travel with the squad. They leave for the USA on May 21.
Samson got the nod as the second wicketkeeper-batsman alongside Pant. Dube’s strong IPL performance earned him a spot. Chahal’s return adds experience and variation to the team’s attack.
Some players like Gill and Singh missed out, while Jaiswal retained his spot despite a slow start in the IPL.
India plays their first match against Ireland on June 5 in New York. They aim to win the tournament despite recent challenges.
