Troy Johnson and Nick Kelly combined for a greatest catches that could be a contender for catch of the year during Match 22 of the Super Smash 2023–24 season. They dismissed the formidable Kiwi batsman Will Young for just seven runs off Michael Snedden. Despite their impressive effort, Wellington still lost to Central Stags by six wickets.

After the catch, there was some doubt, so Johnson’s teammates threw the ball up for a referral. TV umpire Derek Walker reviewed the footage to check if Johnson had touched the boundary rope before releasing the ball, but confirmed it was a legitimate catch.

Philip Salt of the Adelaide Strikers was dismissed by one of these catches from Cooper. As Cooper positioned himself at the deep mid-wicket boundary, Salt’s shot from Jack Wildermuth’s delivery came directly to him. Cooper stepped inside the boundary to secure the catch, then tossed the ball up, regained his footing, and completed the catch.

It all started in the 15th over’s second delivery, when Peirson, batting during the power surge, struck a ball from Jake Ball. Bird, positioned at extra cover, initially missed the catch despite a well-timed jump. However, as he fell, he managed to use his legs to prevent the ball from touching the ground.

Chris Jordan made one of the greatest catches in BBL history, helping the Perth Scorchers secure a win. Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Bancroft’s impressive scores led the Scorchers to a commanding 7-197. However, it was Jordan’s extraordinary catch that had fans on their feet. While Dan Christian was trying to clear the ropes off Fawad Ahmed’s bowling, Jordan soared to his right and made a spectacular grab, sending debris flying and thrilling the crowd with his dramatic celebration.
