Ravichandran Ashwin recently shared his thoughts about Rohit Sharma’s IPL future with the Mumbai Indians (MI). There has been a lot of talk recently about whether Rohit will stay with MI or leave, especially with a big IPL auction expected later this year. The speculation is heightened because of the recent changes in the team, including Rohit’s captaincy being handed over to Hardik Pandya.
Rohit’s Legacy and Recent Changes
Rohit Sharma has been a key player for the Mumbai Indians, leading them to five IPL titles, with their latest win in 2020. This makes him one of the most successful captains in IPL history, alongside MS Dhoni. The recent change in leadership, however, has led to questions about whether Rohit will continue with MI or move to a different team.
Ashwin’s Perspective
Despite the leadership changes, Ashwin believes Rohit will stay with MI. On his YouTube channel, Ashwin explained that Rohit’s primary concern is not about being the captain or making money. He stated, “Even if you think like Rohit, it’s not wrong at all. ‘I don’t want any headache. I have been a captain for India. I have captained Mumbai many times. Even if I am not a captain, I am going to Mumbai happily. If I play for Mumbai, it’s super’. I am sure most players are like that. After a stage, money doesn’t matter for some of those players.“
