Former BCCI chief selector, Chetan Sharma, has confidently predicted that India will dominate Australia on their home turf in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian team will tour Australia for a five-match Test series from November to January. This marks the first time since the early 1990s that India will play a five-match Test series in Australia.
India’s Recent Success in Australia
In their last two tours to Australia, India emerged victorious, a feat no other team has achieved in back-to-back tours. India has won the last four Test series against Australia, maintaining a strong grip on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Chetan Sharma’s Perspective
Chetan Sharma, who was the chief selector during India’s 2020-21 Test series win in Australia, believes that India has changed the way they are perceived in Australia. He mentioned that in the past, India was unsure of how they would perform in Australia, but in the last two tours, they beat Australia convincingly. Sharma added that Australia no longer underestimates India and knows they need to give their best to win.

India’s Strength in Bowling
Chetan Sharma highlighted India’s bowling attack as the key to their success. He specifically mentioned Jasprit Bumrah as a crucial player in the upcoming series, supported by Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj. Sharma emphasized that while India has always had strong batters, it’s their bowling attack that will make the difference in winning Test matches, especially in foreign conditions.
Tour Schedule
India will begin their tour in Perth. The second Test, a Day-Night match, will be held in Adelaide from December 6-10. The third Test is scheduled for December 14 at the Gabba in Brisbane. The traditional Boxing Day Test will take place at the MCG in Melbourne, followed by the New Year’s Test at the SCG in Sydney.
