New National Cricket Academy to Open by Late September

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to inaugurate its modern National Cricket Academy (NCA) near Bengaluru. The opening will take place during the 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the BCCI, scheduled at the end of September. There is a strong chance that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the event, with the AGM likely happening on September 27.

Election of New BCCI Secretary

During the AGM, the BCCI may elect a new secretary, as current secretary Jay Shah is expected to become the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman in December. Some potential candidates for the role include Arun Dhumal, Anil Patel, Ashish Shelar, and Rohan Jaitley.

New NCA’s Facilities

Jay Shah shared details about the new NCA during a visit to The Times of India office in Mumbai. He mentioned that he laid the foundation stone for the facility in 2022, although the land was acquired in 2008. The NCA will also offer its top-notch facilities to India’s Olympic athletes, with Shah already inviting Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra to use the facilities. VVS Laxman will continue as the NCA chairman.
