Former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes has named Ravindra Jadeja as the best fielder in today’s cricket. Rhodes, known for his own exceptional fielding skills, believes that Jadeja’s versatility sets him apart from others.
Jadeja’s Versatility in Fielding
Rhodes praised Jadeja’s ability to field in any position on the cricket ground. Whether stationed at mid-wicket, long-on, or short cover, Jadeja’s quick movements make him a fielder that batsmen fear. According to Rhodes, it’s not just Jadeja’s catching or throwing skills that stand out, but also how quickly he reaches the ball, which makes him the best fielder in modern cricket.
Jadeja’s Cricket Career
After India’s victory in the T20 World Cup in June 2024, Jadeja, along with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, announced their retirement from T20 internationals. However, Jadeja confirmed that he will continue playing in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Test matches. Although he was rested during the ODI series in Sri Lanka, he is expected to return to the Indian team for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh in September.
Upcoming Matches
Jadeja will not be participating in the preliminary round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy, along with Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released Jadeja from the Team B squad without naming a replacement. He is expected to rejoin the Indian team for the two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 19 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium and concluding on September 27 at Kanpur’s Green Park.
